To make regular posters pause for a few seconds (or more) to consider what readers will get from their comment.

Totally agree, too many people are posting on non-melodeon topics far too often.
Still, another couple of hundred posts and I,ll be a "hero member"

That does look sensible and gets straight to the heart of the matter.

Another way this could be implemented is to introduce a time limit between posts from one member, rather than just a limit on the number of posts.
