Hah: I wish!  Our mutual friend M. Jaques helped me to focus my thinking about some of this earlier this summer, but I'm still grappling with lots of ideas.  Give me a bit of time and I'll have a crack at a new thread, rather than hijack this one (although hopefully this discussion is not totally off-topic here).

If Oscar Woods had his time over again, I reckon he'd still play a one row 4 stop in C.

And play with much more rhythm and feeling than Mr. Shand.

Personal view, of course  ;)
