Six Nations Medley?
« on: February 07, 2009, 10:18:24 AM »

Hi - I'm trying to develop a 'Six Nations Medley'  - something for everybody (even though Wales ARE going to win).

Got any ideas...?

As Wales will complete the Slam again, all you need is Sospan Fach and any suitable funeral march.
Fingers and other appendages very tightly crossed. It's painful. Anyone need a soprano?

England - hearts of oak
Scotland - Flower of Scotland
Wales - Men of Harlech (or however you spell it, don't speak Welsh, hee hee)
N. Ireland - Londonderry air
Eire - boys of the blue hill
Cornwall -Trelawny
Isle of Man - THE CRACK WAS NINETY IN THE ISLE OF MAN

well you didn't state which six nations.

Wales - Men of Harlick

You mean Men of Horlicks, surely?

Such ignorance. Probably Association, American or Australian Football supporters.
The Northern Irish and the Irish Republic field a combined team,  which counts as one of the four Home Nations, the foreign teams are France and Italy.
As previously suggested Sospan Vach and a funeral march.
Of course you could cover the Welsh/France, well Breton is virtually pure Welsh, with Men of Garlic.

Oh, can't we have Trelawny? I like Trelawny, I know a Cornishman who knows the words.

I never realised you were talking rugby, being totally ignorant of any sport.
OK so new additions
France - Dominique (singing nun)
            Marseillaise

Italy - Papa piccolino
         O Sole Mio
         bonna note (Max Bygraves?)

Ireland - A soldiers song (national Anthem)
            A Nation once again.

The 6 nations query caught my eye; the 6 nations in my part of the world are Iroquois; Tuscarora, Oneida, Cayuga, Mohawk, Onondaga, Seneca, and I do play a few tunes from those cultures [could email examples to anyone interested]..alternately I play a 4 nations medley; All through the night [Welsh], English country garden, Scotland the brave and Irish Washerwoman..way more than that of course but! no matter how jaded those tunes may be, there's a good reason they're so appealing to non-musicians..they're great tunes, no matter how tired one may get of playing them.

After the disgusting performance by the referee yesterday, The English tune should perhaps be "I fought the law, but the law won".  :'(
