Wow!, now there's an idea for a Chanson and maybe even plastic bottle bellows  ;D

Here`s the blue one (there`s red and grees ones too - WOW ) - Ignore the ludicrous price, they do show up for Chanson money.. not as Transparent as I thought they were but you can clearly see the action, reedblocks etc.......

ruined by the standard bellows though - needs see though gussets.
Isn't there some fancy mineral water that comes in a suitably tinted bottle?

Yeah but I doubt it`d make good bellows .. though lets face it, Chanson bellows don`t make good bellows either  :-\

Had a go on a see-through Hohner one. Horrible. Dunno what the reeds sounded like, couldn't hear them above the bellows creaking.

Really? I've got two of them (OK, one has had the reeds ripped out) and both of them were very much better in terms and 'tuning' and bellows leaks than the Chanson branded one.  Think I'll have to dig one out and give it a go now.

Actually you're quite right about the creakiness but I think I'm right about the leakiness.  I've just 'entertained' Coops with a quick blast of 'Donkey Riding'  (he says thanks for reminding me that I've got the toy Hohner BTW :o).

Any Chanson bellows should fit the hohner, even the wood framed ones from old Clild Prodigy models . the plastic Home-Bargains all plastic one I had first creaked worse than the old wood ones, maybe being newer, the plastic ones haven`t had the damp get into the cardboard yet ;D

The plastic Bodied ones definately seem to have even leakier bellows than the wooden ones  from the comparisons I`ve made

I got some of the plastic ones in my shop awhile ago, they leaked like sieves. No single leak ,air just came out everywhere.

I bought 6 of them for my shop a while ago, and had to use one of them for "spares" to try and get the others working - never again!  :o ::)

And you couldn't even burn the damned things...  >:E

Appears to be a creation of Thierry Benetoux, he of 'Ins and Outs of the Accordion' book fame.

So why do the screws show up darker than the reedplates?

Gosh, whole image quoted, even though on same page. compliments indeed ::) (Delete key is top right on most keyboards … ;) )

how to start ??? xray radiographs are shadow images governed by various processes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_attenuation_coefficient but basically thickness and atomic number predominate. eg depleted uranium is the best practical shielding, but there is no such thing as 100% absorption. Hospital kit optimises contrast too, and there is a post process at digitalisation.

Yes, both are "iron", but the screw flanges are edge on to beam, reeds flat side on,  so "path length" is much less in the latter, and more photons pass through. The weights on the low voice reeds offer the same effect.

Before more questions pop up, note too how the absorption of aluminium bits, eg button arms, reed plates is intermediate, nearer that of wood, which is almost whited out at this exposure. And there are multiple overlapping shadows, reeds stacking 3-6 deep, and beam fanning effect, eg the parallax top and bottom, bellows corner reinforcements. This is a point source rather than parallel sun beams

… but we stray off topic!

[re below] everything absorbs x-radiation, even air! Basically the classic xray is a shadowgram, in shades of grey. Yes, metals absorb best, by a long way, but even they are semi-transparent. Turn that reed edge on, more metal in the path, you get 99.999% absorbed, now not enough to darken a film (image above has been "de-negatived", looks better). Meanwhile our whole atmosphere is sufficient to absorb "cosmic" *xrays. It's all relative Don't get me onto inverse squares …

*this may be a new distance record for off topic in this fine forum?

Chris, a question from a friend:
"If you x-ray the melodeon, don't the metal elements absorb some of the radiation?"
Staying off topic I know... sorry  (:)
     8) But on topic- I have found that on the channel of the original see-through melodeon, there are other videos of it. Is this a DIY job or a kit? Or is it some sort of Frankenstein box? As previously said the bellows look less than brilliant.

RE above, thanks for the reply!  (:)

Yours for €3,800.00 upwards, from Thierry Benetoux - it's him playing it in the clip and that's his YouTube channel.
