If only Castagnari would make a 21+2 instrument where the 2-button half-row was a true accidental row and not duplicating the chin-end! For a D/G instrument with a 3rd button start, it would give you low notes at the chin end and yet still retain the highest notes at the knee-end. Highly desirable! But sadly, not available.

Having been redirected to this thread, I was interested to read my own comment from nearly 4 years ago.
Castagnari of course now do make such an instrument with an independent 2-button half-row - the '1914' anniversary model. And very nice it is too!  ;)

A fourth-button start is a stretch for me to reach the accidentals
I did the modification by screwing in 2 bent mini brass cup-hooks to make pivots, and a bit of wire coat-hanger, topped off with a pearl button epoxyed into place.
Castagnari Dony, DB Oakwood, Hohner Pressedwood,Liliput,Preciosa,Octoput,etc.

I have an italian box 1930ish (Soprani Liliput) that does the same link, but all is hidden below.First row button and incidental row button both go up and own which ever is pressed.
