Patrícia Pereira
« on: November 19, 2013, 03:21:26 PM »

Anybody come across this young lady before?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tw8Ac06BWas

This video came up when I played this video which appeared in another Melnet thread a while back.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=up5BEZypXoY

It took me a couple of minutes to realise that it was not the same Mory/player!

She has wonderful melodeon face, however, I feel if I tried that I would just look ridiculous!   :-[

Very accomplished playing so it must be my loss that it leaves me utterly unmoved. I see and recognise the skill but I have no enthusiasm at all for the music, I find more inspiration in the 'Beginners Showcase' thread to be honest, probably because it has enthusiastic new players giving tunes I love their best shot.

Not ever danced a mazurka with your favourite person then  ;)

Erm, no. People with dyspraxia aren't terribly good dancers!

It's easier than playing melodeon, dancing that is.

For you maybe but both are difficult for a dyspraxic and I'd rather play a bum note than trip over my own feet and injure myself or someone else!

Yikes! I'm not sure what you are objecting to? The tune in one clip? The other clip starts with "Flatworld" & I imagine she plays a variety of music. She seems quite charming to me ...   (:)

Thanks for posting these Peter. I had not encountered these videos before. Quite soothing to the eyes and the ears!  (:)

Sorry, I wasn't objecting to anything as such, just responding to the link you posted. All I said was that it wasn't for me and I did say that was probably my loss (because of my limited appreciation of some styles of music).

I'll avoid any future cross posting rather than raise your hackles.

'Tis a small world - I watched and enjoyed these clips last night, and today I had a young Portuguese couple in my shop (on the West Coast of Ireland) asking about beginners' concertinas, for Irish music. They were amazed that anybody outside of Portugal even knew what a "concertina" meant in their country, though it's something that I learnt years ago, but even more surprised when I told them about watching these clips, seeing that they also sometimes busk in Lisbon and have encountered Patricia.

There's synchronicity for you...  :o  ???

Pete, you are perfectly entitled to express your own view.    What you said wasn't cross posting as far as I can see, and I don't even think you raised hackles.  It was just a polite disagreement.   Life would be very dull if we all agreed on everything, especially in music.

The lady in the middle video is my friend Giovanna Pavonciello who stayed with me at my home at Easter this year with another friend of mine, Alessandro Pipino. They live in Bari, Italy. Alessandro is a professional multi-instrument musician and he plays with the band L'Escargot and also with Radiodervish. Giovanna teaches French. Giovanna doesn't play a Mory. All three videos are really great...Thanks  (:)
