I'm going. Mr Spouse is doing the beginner course too.

Nice one Mr Sam  :||: ;D  I keep trying to entice Mr Coops to learn but he's having none of it at the moment. Still there's always Ed Rennie's beginners course at Sidmouth  (:)

Doubtless we'll meet up with you at some point during the proceedings.

I'd be a bit out of my depth I think.  Maybe another year....

No way Helena, go for it!  You are certainly good enough. Go go go.  ;D

I'll edit that. I know I'm right, I've heard you play  ;D

Are we also to look out for a man carrying a melodeon and a massive lobster...?

Perhaps in a year or so I will overcome my terror at posting messages out into the wide blue yonder???  :Ph

Oh! Gang, I would love to be there, unfortunately this is going to be a peculiar year. Surgery beckoning. At least I have given up smoking which is a good start. Me and the Lobster will  catch up with you very soon, I'm sure. :||: :|||:

Really fancied the idea of 13, but nowhere near ready to try that  :(. I don't imagine that it will be available next year, will it?

I was wondering if by blues it meant blues (as in blues dancing) or blues.

I assumed 'blues' as in 'playing the blues', it didn't occur to me it might be blues dancing.

But THIS:

looks like quite hard work, and hard on the squeezebox too.

It's Brian Peters' workshop, so I guess his content will be similar to what he did at Witney last November. It is indeed playing the blues;  - you wouldn't really expect a dancing blues workshop at a melodeon workshop?

I expect Brian will be working at the blues scales and idioms: mostly this will involve playing in A on a normal 2-row D/G melodeon, working at melody, harmony and rhythm, with a certain amount of free improvisation too. If it's anything like his Witney workshop (which I attended last November) it will be great fun, nothing outlandishly difficult. No dancing, as mentioned, but be prepared to sing a bit!  I guarantee no melodeons will be harmed in the course of the workshop  ;)

I meant the kind of music used for blues dance. Wasn't expecting a dance lesson. lol
Oh dear, singing...  :o that's not good. Prepare for all the local animals to start howling. ;)

So I first started melodeon I think it was M&M 2009...so it will be my melodeon-a-versary in march.

Does this mean that you are going to become averse to melodeons in March?  :o

Brian's blues class is one of the best melodeon classes I've seen. Don't be scared of blues on the box, it is just a "different" way of playing it

If you do find yourself suddenly developing a melodeon aversion I'll look after the Tommy for you LDT  ::)

Any fellow playgroupers fancy going to the evening meal at the White Horse?

Malcolm, I think people are staying in all different places.  Sarah and I are at the Travelodge 'cos it was ridiculously cheap but it appears sold out now.
