Bass run in The Fumble Dance by John Spiers
« on: November 27, 2013, 02:08:09 PM »

There is a lovely bass run at the end of the A music that I would like to play and also show someone else the run of notes. I can listen to it on the Melodeons at Witney 2008 CD and follow the music and I think it is a straight descending  D C B A G this (again I think) is against the F sharp in the right hand (not held).

The reason I would like to use the same as John Spiers (apart from the fact he wrote it) is the fourteen year old whom I would like to show it to is a very big fan of John Spiers and would want to use that particular run.

Is there anyone who was at that workshop (or even not at the workshop :) ) who could enlighten me, I was at Whitney that year but not at the J S tuition.

Apologies if this has already been discussed did do a quick search.

Thank you

It is just that!

I play the right hand F# on the push on the D row and then the D C B basses are all on the push too.  I let go of the F# to play a quick A on the pull and then the G is the first bass of the repeated A music.

Well worked out!

If anyone has my tunebook - they will notice that it was originally in A as played on an E/A box - but it was transposed down to G for the melodeons @ witney workshops.

Cheers

Thank you very much Squeezy, very pleased that I had a take on it :)  Now to learn it and pass it on.  I didn't know that you had a tune book out, is it available somewhere?

thanks again,
