A worthy winner; Nigel Eaton's cracking recent composition Halsway (or Halsway Scottische or the Halsway Carol); can be played in lots of ways, and thanks to an internet campaign to get as many people playing it as possible, is and has been!

There are some inconsistencies/errors in the B music of my version. Please don't copy them.   :-[

Last week at Playgroup I was informed that these are not errors but variations. The tune is evolving!

I'd be happy with that interpretation if they were deliberate...

And I will be at Halsway Manor this Saturday for Wren music's Exmoor Carols Day after performing Halsway Carol as part of performance at Starcross on Friday evening. All very festive.

A great start to the melnet submissions  (:)
The one-row version in particular seems effortless.

That sounds great Sandy.  Can I ask what you used to get the drone??? (By the way, gorgeous dog)
Thanks

Thanks Mary.

The drone is just alternating D basses (Saltarelle Nuage). The thirds are also out on the chords.

Cheers,
Sandy

These two are just phenomenal people. Nigel Eaton is so sensitive with his playing, and Julie Murphy is someone I'd long admired from her work with Fernhill. An amazing voice; i haven't met her yet, but I've met her husband.

Here we go folks, just recorded this on my melodeon app, simulating my D/G Mory!

Quite playable actually, though I still need practice I think! :-)

Very cool! Perhaps this will be the gateway for a resurgence in melodeon playing amongst the yout of today!

Here's my attempt - learnt, with a bit of a struggle, from the abc shown on here. First I struggled with the bars with the dotted crotchets in the 'B' part and then I struggled (and still am doing here) with playing consistent left hand chords. I've really enjoyed learning and playing this tune though. Nice one, Nigel!

That's wonderful! It reminds me a little of the Waterboys ca. Room to Roam.

I'm in the one row fever! Symptoms: Angry neighbours,  pain in arms and shoulders, a shocked wife, less friends, more enemies. Yeah, music makes my life rich.
So here is my attempt for December:
