Not very imaginative, but here's my go at this lovely tune: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGdYAuYCuU4

I'm in the one row fever! Symptoms: Angry neighbours,  pain in arms and shoulders, a shocked wife, less friends, more enemies. Yeah, music makes my life rich.
So here is my attempt for December:

That's beautiful! Nice stomp.

HALSWAY MAZURKA

In case my Christmas Eve Halsway (http://youtu.be/_VsV4eAmINg) was a bit slow, here's a quicker boxing day version with mazurka variations

And for something else, with a kind of free-reed, though not the melnet kind: http://youtu.be/jPpkLtC1ejY

Well done Jack!  (:)

Here's another take by me on this tune, this time back on the Preciosa in Bb/Eb, now safely home and tuned again - yay!

Thanks Clive, a very welcome dose of sweet melodeon sanity, providing  the tune with something that only our instrument (or maybe an anglo) can give. Lovely relaxed jaunty feel.  I enjoyed seeing those close-packed flat reeds in the Preciosa.
.... and I note that the Francois Samuel variant has slipped into your B music, i.e. having the first three quavers before the bar line instead of one before and two after as in Nigel's original. I wonder which way the folk process will take it. .... Even Nigel has posted on the Facebook Halway page that HE hears the tune in the Francois way now.
A happy new year to you.

Clive's version has lost a beat,  creating a bar of 3/4. Someone else did a version with the three quavers before the beat and then (if I remember correctly) a longer note afterwards to make up the time so it was all still in 4/4.

I still like the original version. It's hard to get your head round, but so satisfying when you get there.

having misinterpreted the start of the B music, i tried to correct it but it's too well embedded in the muscle memory. Jack's alternative dance variations are tops!

What better to do on a gloomy winter day but tuck in to the cozy cellar and record a tune? Here's my version of Halsway in a multi-tracked format, me playing all parts, even the notes that don't belong (at no extra charge). Played here on a C/G anglo, G/D anglo, G/C Pokerwork, and cittern.

I'm glad you said that, Anahata. I've just been listening through some of the versions here (having learned the tune from "dots" I had already) and was getting quite confused at the variations in the B music timing, some of which don't add up to the full 4 in the bar. And I agree, having just learned it as you play it, that it's very satsifying and catchy (there's a word you don't hear very often now) as written.

Well done all; on to our next destination now - late contributions as ever always welcome - just stick them on the end here.
