A little bit of festive silliness from me, played with more enthusiasm than skill and some silly hats too.

Here's the first one Rub-a-Dub

and another

Good King Wenceslas.  This one includes a cure for melodeon face too.  Bonus.

I was going to continue but I was running out of silly hats and Coops (husband) started asking me if I could play 'Silent Night'.  On the whole I think that was a hint.

All the best of the season to you all  (:)

Just came across this Helena, love the Bah Humbug hat, I was going to buy one and Karen said " you don't need to buy a bloody hat to prove YOUR attitude to Christmas!"
As for the second vid. I just loved the Steam Punk look. I think a Morris team dressed in steam punk stuff would take the world by storm. A mixture of Mad Max and Cotswold. Great fun vids as well.  ;D ;D

It's out of the book "The Mellstock Carols", compiled and edited by Dave Townsend.

That is just delightful! Too bad there's no video!

On the other hand, here's my effort, a tune I came up with while doodling on my newly acquired Dinn III. Might have been better with NO video - my first full-frontal recording - I apologize for looking so miserable!  :-\

It's not so easy to bring the kids together like it was the years before. They are between 15-18 years old now!   :Ph  Because of this: no video.

Yours: Very lovely tune and very nice atmosphere.  I love it.

A recording from 1987!!!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpmp1fG5cRQ

Martyn Wyndham Read - vocals (and forgetting the words)
Maggie Goodall - vocals
Chris Coe - hammered dulcimer
Martin Carthy - guitar
Me- melodeon
Richard Whiteley - pretending to be interested (he really wasn't)

That was a long time ago. I was slim.

Oh my, Martin! I'll bet there's an interesting story or two behind that!

Well, you unfestive bunch (apart from those who were festive of course!), it's time to move onto another theme - late festivities always welcome of course; just stick them on the end here!

Am I too late?  (fan of Hitchiker's Guide...)

I just thought I'd post a link to a vid of our Christmas Clog outing, which has just been posted on Youtube.  This has been going for decades around North Hampshire and currently our collections go to the childrens' hospice Naomi House.  I think the cold was getting to everyone as the dancers kept going faster and the fingers kept going slower!  Playing were myself (Trilly), Martin (Pokerwork) and Tim (unlicensed trombone).

Here's an international duet version of the Niagara Carol recorded by Scott (Hickory-Wind) & Peter (Airtime) on a very cold, snowy January evening in Ontario.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUktfp-w2dQ&feature=youtu.be

I accidentally activated the new "anti-melodeon-face" setting on the video camera, which causes the camera to automatically go out of focus when the facial expressions become too extreme.   :||:
