In Terry Pratchett's Disc World, the equivalent of Father Christmas rides around in a sledge drawn by a team of pigs on "Hogwatch Night" and I thought you were referring to this in your post. Sorry about that.  ;)

I'm a Yorkie!
My other melodeon's a fiddle, but one of my Hohners has six strings! I also play a very red Hawkins Bazaar in C and a generic Klingenthaler spoon bass in F.!! My other pets (played) are gobirons - Hohner Marine Band in C, Hohner Tremolo in D and a Chinese Thingy Tremolo in G.

I didn't know about Pratchett, but "Hogwatch Night" just had a sound to it that I liked!  And of course melodeons would be involved.

Aha - alles klar! Mr Pratchett is - and will remain - a closed book to me, ditto Harry Potter (but the image is a tantalising one - a case of bringing home the bacon?). No, I find the real world infinitely more entertaining that the the fictional fantasy one and I've plenty of Hohners to keep me company along the way.

Malcolm, I think Chris was referring to my post rather than yours....
Too many Malcolms around here   ;D
Not a great Pratchett fan myself either, but the odd stroke of brilliance remains in the mind....
From one Malcolm to another, seasons greetings, and may all your Hohners remain wet....

Maybe with the revival of Monty Python's Flying Circus I should change my name to Bruce to avoid any confusion.

In the meantime, season's greetings to ye Malcolms all.

Sounds like a traditional song; "The Rambling Malcolm"?

Ye Malcolms all, both great and small
Come listen to my ditty

Seriously, my seasonal wish (I'm not a Christian, nor indeed of any religion, so "Christmas" is kind of irrelevant to me) may be corny, but is summed up in "good will, good humour, good fellowship to all".  Whatever your beliefs, the season's warmest greetings.

Newly acquired G/C Hohner Viktoria. Also Fender Jazz bass, Telecaster, Stratocaster, Epiphone Sheraton, Charvel-Jackson 00-style acoustic guitar, Danelectro 12-string and other stuff..........

Or this well known folk standard?

Ye Malcolms all, as ye pass by
Come in and drink if you are dry
Come spend, me lads, your money brisk
And pop your nose in a jug of this   ;D

I second your wish for "good will, good humour, good fellowship to all".  A Bb/Eb Lilliput under the tree would be nice too...  :||:

Dear Santa:

Please bring me a D/C# melodeon with four bass buttons, with the basses tuned to the four bass notes of an A/D box (no chords please).

That, or a motorcycle.

I'd just like Santa to bring me a (single) melodeon shoulder strap that is as long as a Mally strap (45-46 inches) but reasonably padded so I can get my Nuage through long gigs without a sore shoulder.
cheers
