Sending a link
« on: February 15, 2009, 07:58:05 PM »

Hmm, I've just tried to find a way of emailing a link to a particular post I thought a non-member would find interesting. When I followed the link myself an error was returned (I created the link by right clicking the "Quote" button on the post and selecting "Copy Link"), the link looked good to me but the forum software wasn't having it and I presume if it doesn't work for a permanently logged in member there's no way a non member could follow this link.

Is there a way to point to a particular post?

Forgive me but wouldn't that just be the url for the page on which the post in question appeared?  ???

Yes. The post doesn't exist by itself, only as part of a topic page.
To send someone just the post contents, you could copy and paste it into an email; or by right click on the post title (e.g. Re: Sending a link), Copy Shortcut, you copy the page URL plus the post number, so that the page opens at the post in question, as here.
