60s Film The Irishmen
« on: February 21, 2009, 12:46:55 PM »

There' a great link on concertina net to a film from the 60s by Philip Donnellan.  'The Irishmen'

It was  about emigrants and their life on building sites etc.  There ARE SOME GREAT SONGS AND TUNES.

Peter Laban put it on in connection with my request for info on Reg Hall's work on Irish Music in London.

Did anyone get to Reg's talk last weekend at the Comhaltas convention in London?

Cheers.

Mike,
Sorry if my post seemed a little brief - I didn't mean anything by it.
I really enjoyed the film.  I worked on sites in my school holidays in the early 70's , just priming wood,
I remember the tea huts being very much like those in the film.

Gav, I think Mike meant the lads in the film!

So who spotted that the rangy fellow in the black wool cap playing whistle in the tea hut was none other than Séamus Ennis? (I didn't.)
