Playing Morris with Lester
« on: February 23, 2009, 07:32:49 PM »

Can I just say Lester, I've had such fun playing along with you these last few days.  I'm new to Morris and so having found your website where I can simply download all the Morris tunes I want and play along with somebody who's really playing the stuff properly has been real boon!

I'm not very good at all the techi stuff, and internet links an all - but if anyone wants to play Morris with Lester then the website is:

http://lester.bailey.googlepages.com/

Thanks Again!

Yes I too have spent many a happy hour in Lester's website.

A wonderful resource for me was his music page where tunes are listed with either a look or listen button

Alas this has not worked for a while. I get a page not found message. Is this peculiar to my computer or is it a
problem generally

Oh shucks guys you make a happy man feel really old.   :)

I will look at the broken stuff at the weekend when I have broadband rather than 3G connectivity.

I have been thinking about redoing the morris tunes as they were recorded many moons ago and I find my self with spare time all alone in my little house during the week. I have been deliberating wether to jeust replace the tunes as they are (bit low quality and mono to fit in the web space) or to redo them on Sound Lantern as audio or to video them and make my name on YouTube. What is your view would seeing the fingers be of use??

Thanks

Lester, YouTube would be good as long as the sound quality isn't affected. Either way, a big thanks from me for what you are doing - it's most helpful.  BTW have you got a full car for Darlington now - and if not are you coming up the M1? ;D

Please leave the tunes as they are. Video adds nothing. Except for a melodeon face :)

AAW, come on that's all part of it! The most distinctive part of some folks music are their facial expressions, i.e I can't think of Stephan Grappelli without seeing his serene visage in my minds eye. And as for melodeon face - well that just teaches us not take this stuff too seriously ;D

Thanks for the memory Al!

My other melodeon's a fiddle, but one of my Hohners has six strings! I also play a very red Hawkins Bazaar in C and a generic Klingenthaler spoon bass in F.!! My other pets (played) are gobirons - Hohner Marine Band in C, Hohner Tremolo in D and a Chinese Thingy Tremolo in G.

As a result of this discussion have decided to put my melodeon face up on my profile - in case I forget how stupid I look! (audio would be a step too far!)
