Poll: Tune of the Month for April 2014
« on: March 24, 2014, 11:47:41 PM »

Here we are again folks - vote away!

First, last month's runner up, Monks' March - a morris dance tune from Sherborne; did you think we'd done them all? Nope, there's this fine tune:  http://lesters-tune-a-day.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/tune-115-monks-march.html

Next, Four Up - a much more modern dance tune, written by Barry Goodman, and here played by the indomitable Lester: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rb0491l8xXo

Midnight on the Water - let's try this again. Lester, is there a tune you haven't played? I swear I'm not just lazily looking down your blog (as I might have done in previous months) - it's just that you've recorded every tune I want to use! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4syzDkUzhBE - not traditional as often thought, this was written by Luke Thomasson

Young Damon's Flight - something a little more unusual, here played by Boldwood, first tune: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wrsse_uCZSo (I think some ABC might be helpful with this one!)

There you go folks, happy voting!

Clive

Blimey, is that all it is? The Boldwood version sounded *way* more complex! Thanks for the dots Ollie!

Yup! Obviously Boldwood's arrangement is pretty complex, but it's a fairly simple tune at heart. It does have its tricky corners though!

(:) the vote this month is like one of those fairground horse races, jittering towards the finish line..then suddenly the two front runners are overtaken ....
