"Come Thou Font of Every Blessing" played on my Saltarelle Pastourelle III. My basses, I think, I'm playing like organ bass pedals.

I like your version!

And I like yours. You've got some interesting chords there that I'm going to steal.  That Sanctus is pretty dang sweet, too.

Let All Things Now Living is a hymn written by Katherine K. Davis in the 1920's using the Welsh folk song "The Ash Grove" as the tune. I rushed it some. This is my first contribution to TOTM. I've enjoyed all the earlier submissions.

Really nice Scott.  Lovely looking and sounding box.  I like the way you are "feeling" the music as you play.

Thanks for posting

Second up, Glorious Things of Thee are Spoken. http://youtu.be/iBBA_8Xo7sQ

Great! I play this one, too, but when I hear you do it, I feel like I've missed the point of playing it on the melodeon, like I just don't get it. Your version's a great model.

Well done folks so far; here's a hymn from me - Nearer My God to Thee

http://youtu.be/aGXxBGbp7xo

Play this one in a church concert, and I guarantee tears in the audience (hopefully for the right reasons!). Played on the Hohner Preciosa in Bb/Eb.

Cheers,

Clive

Some time since I've posted on here, no time these days, and not happy with my recording setup.   No posh mic or effects and simply using my phone, which doesn't do the box any favours, but here's a hymn I learned for a cathedral service in Budapest a while back so it's a bit of a cheat.  It sounded great with the cathedral acoustics but you'll have to use your imaginations!  The box is a Castagnari Ilary 8 bass in C/F

That's great, Frank. Really gets at the feeling of hymn. I think it's apocryphal but I've always thought there is some truth to the story that accordions were invented originally to be very small organs for churches that were too remote or poor to have organs of their own. I think the instrument really suits the repertoire.

... and the end of that theme; late submissions as ever always welcome; stick 'em on the end here!

Cheers,

Clive

D'oh!  Just missed it.

Here's a secular hymn, the Hymn to Friendship, written by a New England minister in the early 19th century. Played on my Baffetti

http://youtu.be/_t5SbyZhrFM

If you want to hear it with lyrics played by the amazing Tim Eriksen (who, I believe, just did a show with Eliza Carthy in your neck of the woods) you can go here:  http://youtu.be/XCvebQzl9jo

Well done, Gary. And thanks for the clue-in on Eriksen. I can't believe I didn't know of him.

Schubert Sanctus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Aic1LtHDK0&feature=youtu.be

The music used to sing this version of the Sanctus is taken from Schubert's Deutsche Mass. It works very well on the melodeon, but, as is often the case, playing it in G puts it about a 3rd or 4th too high for ordinary people to sing. Gotta get a three-row A/D/G someday to solve this problem.

Although come to think of it, it could be played in D on a D/G without sacrificing any chords, since it's only got three chords anyway.

Played on a Dino Baffetti three-voice Oakwood Binci melodeon.

That is gorgeous Martin !

May have missed it but I didn't see anyone mention There is a Fountain.  Great in D, but you need to fake or bodge the F# chord in the B part.  Played it in sessions a few times and it always gets toes tapping.

When A Knight Won His Spurs

A brand new recording on my Erica GC (in G) as my old one was a bit weak, it having been recorded just a few months after I started playing.

When I got my grey Preciosa back from Andreas Sommer and was fiddling around with it, my mother asked me to play the Lord of the Dance.
