Notes for tune needed
« on: December 06, 2007, 02:16:46 PM »

I want to add a tune called "Young Virgins " to a set of tunes we play in the Toronto English music session.....I can play it but trascrition takes me hours and I don't seem to be able to find it in any on-line data base.
        Can anyone help ?
                    Thanks Robin

Or use this http://www.concertina.net/tunes_convert.html Paste the ABC in the box and it gives you a gif. image, midi file and a PDF file. And it's free!!

Matthew, thank you so much. You've save me hours.
I did a search of the web and came up with a number of alternate titles.............one of which nearly made me fall off my chair..........Poor Robin's Maggot !!
This tune has indeed been my "maggot" for about a week now...........it's been banging around in my head constantly.
We also talked about the name at our session and last night and decided an anagram of Young Virgins was OK......Vino is Grungy!!
But I think we'll call it Poor Robin's Maggot.
                          Robin
Thanks Ollie.......I use the converter  all the time  ;D

Matthew...............do you (yet) have recently published Book+CD "Hardcore English" ?
The tune I was looking for was under "Wou'd have a young virgin" ..........again the earlier name is Poor Robin's Maggot.
I had it all along and didn't know.
                  Thanks again  Robin

Robin,
I don't have the book, but I'll search it out, it sounds interesting.  The resource I used that found the tune was Andrew Kuntz's excellent online fiddler's source book http://www.ibiblio.org/fiddlers/index.html
The search engine doesn't work that well, but if you browse by title there's a lot of stuff there.  It's very good on cross-referencing multiple titles of songs, and similar songs, which can be very handy.
