Hello to all
Thought I have a go on this reel even if it's rough. I've been playing for 3 yrs  and a little over a week on this tune
it was fun to learn. (Wish I had Lester's nice bass work.)

Here's one schottischifieed a bit. I recorded an introduction afterwards and stuck it on the beginning which seemed to work at the time but...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6Mlnf50OSY

Is that a Student 1 conversion or did they actually produce a diatonic model in that case (basically the same casework as a 2915)?  I ask because I recently bought a Student 1 12-bass PA with a view to converting to melodeon treble end but possibly keeping the Stradella bass.

I really enjoyed working on the tune this month, but I found it very difficult to play precisely. No way I'm going to produce an error-free video clip in the foreseeable future!

Very nicely played and very interesting cross row version.

I like this tune played as a scottish especially the version from sandy.

But it works also as a polka.

Here is my attempt:

Not going to be doing this month.  I've tried a number of times to care about this tune but it's too complicated for me at the moment and I'm just not fond of it enough to play it for the amount of time needed to actually make a go of it.  I keep straying to Princess Royal.  :)  Maybe next month, depending on what comes up.

I've been so incredibly busy this month I simply haven't had time to sit down & do a recording.  I'm playing at a St Andrews Night do tonight, and tomorrow will be technically too late to post (although if I'm home by midnight it will still be 10pm in UK, so I could just sneak in.......)

Well here it is, the 12th hour, one speaker (again)!!!! desperate attempt, sans bass, rendition for tune of the month. As a relative beginner I found this a somewhat uphill though enjoyable struggle. Obviously I still haven't got it right but of four attempts to record something this is the only one that sounds as if I was listening to the same tune as the rest of you (probably because I didn't attempt to coordinate the bass on this take  ;D) , so it's the one I've posted. I shall consider tomorrows poll winner with trepidation after a long Guinness  :|glug

Lovely recordings folks; now it's time to move onto another month, but as ever, please continue to post any late entries to this thread!

Better late than never!  Here's my version on my new Hohner Morino Club N - 5 sets of reeds, LMMMH.

First time through is with the L only, second is with the middle M only , then LMH, and finally with everything sounding!

Posted on behalf of Treborg, received today by email:

------------------------

Hi Folks

I've always been interested in folk music and whilst browsing the internet was delighted to find my grandmother Beatrice Hill's name mentioned on your website.  I was even more delighted to read that her tune 'Three Handed Reel' was tune of the month for November 2011.  I would love to obtain a recording of this, does anyone know a source?

I have inherited her melodeon and would be grateful if any member could give me information on anyone in the Worcestershire/Gloucestershire area that could refurbish it for me (also a teacher wouldn't go amiss!)  I would love to be able to play her tune on her instrument, and although I can play the piano and read music, and haven't the faintest idea what to do with this instrument! The photograph of her was taken sitting at the bottom of her garden path.  My great aunt was Emily Bishop who I believe was recorded by Peter Kennedy.  As a child I remember sitting with her and her seven cats and listening to some of her songs - the number of verses seemed absolutely endless - but what an incredible memory she must have had.

I am so pleased to have joined your forum and any information I can provide on the above I will happily share.

Kindest regards

Treborg
