Orange Manfrini B/C - Martin Donohoe's new box
« on: June 03, 2014, 04:40:32 AM »

It seems boring old red or grey "are so yesterdays colours" for Martin Donohoe, so he's got himself a new orange Manfrini “Bosca Ceoil” B/C box from Colm Gannon - he reckons they come with free sunglasses... 8)

Oh, and it has his name down the front of it, like the Baldoni Bartoli, Walters & Iorio boxes of old: Martin Donohoe new Manfrini “Bosca Ceoil”, accordion BC

My eyes! My eyes! By beautiful eyes!

Well, then again I'm the guy with a VERY blue Paolo, so I shouldn't talk. It comes down to the sound, but I suppose you've gotta be brave to order a box in those colours, when playing around in the rather conservative (looks-wise) box-community in Ireland.

(but I'd still prefer a red or grey classic box).

Perhaps not a box to play in the north?

Well lads the box arrived today all the way from Australia! It was lovely opening the package to find a blue paolo as I have never seen one like that before.
Well, then again I'm the guy with a VERY blue Paolo, so I shouldn't talk.

Lads, ye'd better start checking to see if Martin is in the session with his new orange Manfrini, before ye go in their with yer blue Paolos - or else y'are gonna CLASH horribly!  :o 8) ::)

Or maybe we should all go in with orange boxes, and sit on them...  ;)

I think that's the other way around? but hopefully this does not matter anymore, but I guess that would be like wishing discrimination
didn't exist. :(
I like the color of the box. it's not as orange as I expected, I also like the buttons - adds interest IMO

Depends on what colours the kerbstones in the neighbourhood are...

They have rather a "Mexican" look - which some might think about right for Martin!  ;)

It looks decidedly more orange in those photos Mory! (He might even get people wanting to lick it when the weather gets hotter, thinking it's an ice-lolly!  ;D)

And I see Charlie McGettigan says "I had to put on my sunglasses because Martin's Accordian was blinding me!"  8)

I think Martin expected no less as a reaction to his new box and "only did it for the craic" - as if he's not notorious enough already...  ::)

you have colored curbstones? now I really want to come over for a visit to see these, hopefully not up close (:)
I like the triangle pattern made by the buttons  and after seeing the pictures Mory posted I would have to say yeah it's orange

Not around here, but kerbstones painted in British/Unionist/Loyalist/Orange/Protestant red, white and blue or Irish/Republican/Catholic green, white and gold colours are sometimes to be found, as a political/territorial statement, in Northern Ireland.

Edited to add the word "territorial" - thanks for the mot juste squeezy!

I've seen the painted kerbstones - it's like some kind of sinister territorial bunting ... I do understand why it's there ... and it's kind of beautiful to see that colour on what is otherwise a drab bit of concrete ... but I wish it wasn't there ... and it's definitely intimidating for the uninitiated in these kinds of things.

This is interesting and I hope the colors are fading.

Edited my comments so as not to detract from topic .
