And you thought Castagnaris were expensive...
« on: August 02, 2016, 10:33:46 PM »

Every once in a while, while scouting ebay, one comes across something so ridiculous, so absurd that it must be shared.  It is extra special when it is implied that there is celebrity endorsement, especially when the celebrity is as "one dimensional" as the one pictured.

What am I missing? Looks like nothing more than a spruced up Hohner?!!

Oh- and the video that is suggested makes me want to give up on the box altogether, agree with all who suggest all accordions should be burned, an (re)take up the drums.  Until the moment I watched the first 30 seconds I thought I really enjoyed all styles of accordion music and just love the sound of the accordion itself- i was very very wrong.  It will take nothing less than three new "Arty" video to bring me back.... Sorry Arty- I don't mean to put something as heavy as my future as a melodeon player on you- that said, you best get on it! 😜

Don't think you're missing anything. They seem to be drawing views for a real melodeon sale, but the playing reminds me of Les Dawson. It takes skill to be that rough. Made me laugh - in the Family Guy sort of way.

He's got the Tex-Mex style off pat but unfortunately his playing is so robotic that all feeling goes out of the window.
It's all technique and no music.
Shame because it's such an exciting genre.

Here's some Tex-Mex on a Hohner Erica: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtXnmF88aH4

I usually like texmex- this was too much, not musical to my ear talent or not- maybe it needs a backing band, I don't know- but it is really the price that I find the most astonishing.

I see the real price is listed in the Q&A

I quite like the way this turns the "try in a real shop then buy on line" paradigm on its head. Here it's see on fleabay, buy from your favourite dealer  8)
