Pressed wood Hohners
« on: July 14, 2014, 08:29:21 AM »

Probably a question for Triskel, but I'm curious as to when construction of the pressed wood Hohner one and two row boxes began and ended. And while we're on the subject, is it Presswood or Pressed wood? ???

is it Presswood or Pressed wood? ???

I doubt it matters as Hohner wouldn't have used such a term - just as the Pokerwork is not a Hohner description, they call it a Geldbrand, don't they?  Don't know the dates, I'm afraid, although I think they look much better than pressed in gold paint.  Wonder whether the new look made a cost saving?

They use the term "Holzbrandmodell"  in the book "History Unfolds" published in 2004

Thanks everyone..don't think I'm much nearer dating the box ; I just didn't want to be accused of miss representing the approximate age when it goes on Ebay...

No.

A Geldbrand sounds like something rather uncomfortable, especially if you are a horse, and I wouldn't want to play one. The term Goldbrand is sometimes used, but like "Presswood" is not AFAIK a word actually used by Hohner.
