How to change key in abc
« on: July 21, 2014, 12:13:33 PM »

Does anyone know a simple way to change the key in abc notation?  or indeed after converting to dots?  I have tried the link on this site but it is unavailable at the moment.

I want the music for Starry Night for a Ramble in G but can only find it in D........which is a more preferable key I think,  but it works well in G in the setting required.

Thank you

alternatively, and gives standard notation + midi

http://mandolintab.net/abcconverter.php

tick "show transposed output" to change ABC and standard notation outputs.

Did this in ABCexplorer using the external transpose tool ABC2ABC, from my original in Dmaj, but had to do it in small steps for some reason:-

The program I use for this is called abc2abc - it's part of the abcmidi package which is mostly about converting between ABC and MIDI.

abc2abc is almost certainly what's also doing the conversion behind the scenes on the web sites mentioned above and in packages like ABCexplorer.
