Love the Bb/Eb box - it gives a bass grunt almost on a par with a four-stop!  Interesting variant, at least in the A part.  I'm sure those older Hohners were much better built (the action always seems quicker than a Pokerwork) and the lack of clacking suggests you may have refaced the pallets?

Rob.

The basses on this box are one of the many things I love about it. Yes, it's an incredibly solid box, as solid as any Costalotti that I've ever tried. It was completely refurbished by Mike Rowbotham a few years ago.  (:)

I love this tune and have really enjoyed all the versions posted so far. I have noticed, however, that the vast majority of those posted, are played on Hohners. I guess this is the Tony Hall influence. I hope someone plays a version on an Italian box, for example, so that we can see how it sounds. I know Ukebert's is played on a Saltarelle but I'd like to hear more.

I've been learning it on both my boxes and it definitely sounds better on a squishy Hohner to my ears. I'll try to record a quick run through on my Lilium today or tomorrow, though I still haven't learnt the tune to a degree I'm happy with it might at least work as an example.

This is a version I learned from the ladies of the Ripley Green Garters:

Here's a quick go on my Lilium during lunch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEQfGD9kJlI. At least I've got something recorded for this month now!

That's really nice - I hope I can achieve that soon!

Most likely as "good" as it will get on camera within the month.  I can honestly say that this "performance" was not influenced by Tony Hall. ;-)

Seriously this was educational and I hope, after slowing it down, going over it etc., to be playing this again.

A last minute posting. Unfortunately a horrible fluff early on.

Well done folks - time to move onto the next tune! Any late entries, as ever, just stick them on the end here.
