I seem to have extraordinarily efficient posties around my way, as two parcels just arrived days in advance of their expected delivery date. One of which was my top hat for Adderbury Village Morris Men (to fit my oddly large head), the other...this CD! It might be because a lot of depots are over this way so they often arrive early.

Wasn't expecting it yet but I've already listened through it multiple times and it's a cracking CD Ollie. It goes very nicely in my current folk playlist alongside my recently acquired Tony Hall CDs!

Ollie - there is some really nice stuff on this CD, a very welcome addition to my "in car" collection. I particularily like "Shooting", and Tony Hall Like one (can't remember its title).

I can hear JK, Tony Hall and Andy Cutting influences, each in a nice setting made unique by your own style as well.

My copy arrived in deepest, darkest Bavaria yesterday.  Really enjoying it Ollie - a lovely mix of tunes/songs and some excellent melodeon playing.  And so many of them on the Bb/Eb Erika!! - I'm looking forward to learning a few of them (Shooting is top of the list).

And your version Ollie, of Battle of the Somme, is sheer bliss!

I have had the CD for a couple of weeks and love it.  Each track is a delight to listen to and I particularly like Shooting and Bold Archer.  The cover is pretty neat too.  I'm sure it will be a great success for you.

Having finally had time to sit down and listen to it all the way through after Ollie brought me a copy when Pecsaetan were down here, I'm seriously impressed :-)

The sleeve notes are right though -- his version of Shooting might have started off from mine, but it's sure drifted a long way!

But then mine's for dancing to, and his is for listening to -- and is *very* nice indeed, along with many of the other tracks...

Just found your PMs, Nick. Forum trouble has given me only fleeting access over the last few days. Will reply now.

it's absolutely great morris music. I'd council all young singers to tailor the box to the voice rather than vice versa. Tim van Eyken also felt "about a tone high" in song on his "New Boots" album, whereas both actually have really good voices. good songs use all your range and ( with exceptions) most of us need to sing in the sweet spot. Oh .. to be able to sing in D …  :|glug

Just received mine today, rather late to the game, and listened to it. Lovely sound and very interesting mix of pieces! Really inspiring!  All power to your elbow, Ollie.
Mike

P.S.Had a bit of difficulty getting the checkout on Rootbeat's site to work so eventually sourced Gambit at Record Corner - very helpful people.
