Sailed out of there in my truck driving days, on the ferry line voted the worst UK ferry. Dear old Truckline, I don't miss them, or the trucking, one little bit ;)

Interesting to note. I was in Bavaria this summer at the annual Folkcamp in Zeilitzheim near Volkach. fantastic week of English folk tunes and dancing with very friendly international crowd. Highly recommended.

Myself...am in sunny Sheffield. (:)

Northern Kentucky, 5 miles from Cincinnati, OH. We have a small but active Irish music group locally and more spread throughout the US MidWest.

As you can see, my location appears below every post I write (but that's just showing off because I live in the best place in the world - where's the 'smug' icon, when you need it!). Maybe others might want to consider adopting this approach.

Wensleydale ?
Sounds a bit cheesy to me Bob. 8)

Wendover in Leafy Bucks which is much nicer than anywhere in Yorkshire, it's not in the north for starters.   >:E

Well, coming from Bucks and living in Sheffield, I'm not in any hurry to move back south. Up here the beer is cheaper, the Peak District is on the doorstep and Sheffield seems to have more melodeons than anywhere north of Castelfidardo.
They may talk a bit funny, but you get used to that.

Jersey...no, not the New one and no, I'm not rich. Only two melodeon players here, that I know of but we do have a lively weekly session which is great.

Birkenhead, Wirral, U(as of today)K. I think that people who won't even disclose their country in a benign internet forum are slightly weird … but it take all sorts. The name is real too, incidentally; I stand by what I type in.

I don't use a pseudonym to hide my name by the way, my name really is The Ape of Grape, though I am neither apelike nor grapelike except that I have worked in the wine biz for many years, and my teeth are a bit stained.... Something, or so the joke goes, that no Brit will hold against me  >:E

(Man i hope that one doesn't get me in trouble)

Real name is Frank and those who have gotten to know me better, know that the last name is not a secret.  I just hope that being outed as Yank doesn't mean you all will stop reading my posts with a British accent! Makes me sound sophisticated!!

Frank, love you to bits.
In our various posts I have always called you Grape, thinking that you didn't  want your name published. But now you are outed.
By the way, i can actually get a tune out of that machine you sent me.
Can you get a tune out of that I sent you?  >:E

We're going to be in trouble here!
There once was a man from Wendover
Who had trouble with .....ah. Got it.
Who once travelled  on down to Dover
The customs were bad and so very sad
He had to play an awful lot slower

Grape, Frank, whatever … as it happens I looked up your profile only last week (right/left thread) so knew you live "about half way between Akron and Cleveland" which places you to less than 10km. I think geography is important context, Melodeonism is very cultural.? "Wirral" incidentally places me with similar accuracy, though my music is admittedly eclectic. btw Dolly and I hope to get to the St Lawrence basin next year … though Cleveland is some way west of Québec?

Names? Well that's the internet for you. I recall I was "tomcat" on the online Bridge sites. :|glug
