A confession
« on: September 24, 2014, 03:14:20 PM »

I recently lost my Berry. It had a stop on the left hand side.  People would ask "What does that do?"

"Takes out the thirds..." I'd reply casually.

I have replaced this with a Microbot Pressed wood.  It has a similar stop.  It takes out the thirds.

After some 23 years of saying this it's time to confess...I haven't got a clue what this means.

Bless me brethren...(and sisters...)

Makes the chords sound thin and horrible so you can play in keys you never use and a small proportion of people can tell you should be playing a minor not a major chord, if you play the chord long enough for them to notice it. Or something like that.

Yes it's not useful for anyone with limited musical ambitions.

Useful in pit disasters, the third stop is the best way of preventing a flat minor.  :|glug

My other melodeon's a fiddle, but one of my Hohners has six strings! I also play a very red Hawkins Bazaar in C and a generic Klingenthaler spoon bass in F.!! My other pets (played) are gobirons - Hohner Marine Band in C, Hohner Tremolo in D and a Chinese Thingy Tremolo in G.
