Need German Translation
« on: April 05, 2009, 01:57:40 AM »

Andy or anyone else with German language skills

on the top of a reed block in a Hohner Corona II  Classic is the word  " gepfift"
I cannot find a translation

also this word is not found on reed blocks made in China

Any help appreciated   thanks]

And to further this question   does anyone know if

the Corona II  and the Panther and all the other variants of the Corona up to the CLASSIC ( made in Germany)
are the reed blocks in these cheap units of Chinese origin ?
Are the rred so of Chinese origin
And  is it popsssble that the CLASSIC has german made reed blocks but fitted with reeds of Chinese or possibly Czech origin

It has become confusing over the past couple years

In looking at a few of these boxes I have an opinion  but woukld defer to someone with more experience.....

Thanks

Jeff

My wife who is German says it means "whistled" or "piping" as in tone

But strangely enough it can mean it "embellished" as one might embellish a story but not as used  in this context.

Thanks .

Seems odd

I wonder if that is only when combined with  something such as the key system  such as GCF  also stamped on the reed block

In this case the word was stamped all by itself... nothing near it...

Embellished might work.. such as the Chinese attempting to fake something in German withiout a proper understanding of the language...  but that seems far fetched....

Thanks Andy,  that's it !

So    that confirms that at least the reed blocks were inspected in Germany.. I would also belive that they were made there..
I cannot imagine that   Chinese made reed blocks would be shipped back to Germany and imnspected, but possible.

Another set of reed blocks form a Corona II  not a Classic... have no such stamp and are crude, sloppily made and of an unrecognizable wood

Thanks again for the replies
