Single and Looking
« on: October 01, 2014, 01:24:06 AM »

I am curious who of us may be primarily, or at least 50% playing time, dedicated to the one row.

I am..anyone else ?

I am a strapless one row player most of the time. Love the 4 reed sound!

And do you play with a thumb strap the rest of the time?
I got to admit it does sound sexier the way you said it. (:)
I also play mostly one row in D and D/C#  extended one row.

I am learning with my 2 rows and Club IIB (not so much of the Club as it is confusing switchinh)

I 'play' one row all the time, probably because they were played a lot when we went hop picking when I was a nipper. I remember being surprised the first time I saw a two row being played....seemed a bit like cheating......

I was, for a while; I started out on 1-rows and was mostly playing an HA-114 when I bought my first Erica. For a couple of years (I think) I regularly played both. These days, I don't even have a playable 1-row.

I'm probably 50/50 on one and two rows.

I enjoy playing my 4 voice Amatona D/D# on a single row, and think it's good for me. Don't currently have a one-row but keeping an eye open.
(And regretting the one I sold for too little...  :(  )

I love my two one-rows, but I don't really qualify because my playing time is divided about 70%/30% in favour of my 2.6 row.

I play a two row box 95% of the time but a good amount of that I play on the inside row only using mostly the one pair of bass. I guess I'm mostly "extended one row"

In the last 3 years I have gone linear having sold or traded a total of 2 Hohner 3 rows  and 5 Castagnari two rows .

I am now down to 1 Castagnari Meldoeon and 3 Hohners.. an HA 112, an HA113 and an HA114  all from the 50s. A,A, C and D for the Castagnari..  I may go for a Bb one of these days.

I am determined to go as far as I can with one rows, even my CDs are pared down to single row,  and a very few Irish style  2 row..

I favor Quebec tunes and IRTRAD but also exploring American traditional tunes, fiddle tunes.

I have owned a few custom made "CAJUN" boxes and the next may be the Bb in a "CAJUN" box.  I am exploring makers at the moment.

Thanks for the replies, glad to see I am not alone.
