iPad oddity
« on: October 01, 2014, 10:01:29 AM »

I've just been bullied into getting an IPad (thanks a lot Grandchild) and while I find it very convenient in lots of ways it does some weird things when I'm on Melnet. to start with It makes me log in every few visits, even though I've clicked the 'forever' box....and it won't let me use the emoticons....I'm prepared to accept it's probably down to my lack of experience on the beast but it is mildly irritating. Any suggestions?

Not that this is any help, but the same thing happened to me. After a reset it seemed to cure itself.
  Might be worth a try.

You could sell it, and buy one that works in the less proscriptive Android programme :)  >:E

I actually have the same issue on my desktop; I have to sign in every day. Not entirely sure why, it's probably caused by one of the many privacy addons I'm using.

I can confirm that the emoticons wont work on any iOS device, don't know why though??

The other buttons for urls and images etc don't work either.

 8) :P :-\

Sent from my iPad.

Might the issue be to do with settings?

Roger (who likes his iPad).  (Can't abide phones, though.)

Errr.... the emoticons work on my iPad mini and the only time I have to log in is if I clear the history and cookies once in a while.
Ah..... Go to Settings, Safari and see what the default setting is for clearing history and cookies.
If it's set to 'clear on exit' or similar, change that. It might be clearing stuff when you turn off the pad.
Sorry can't be more specific but am not in reach of iPad at present.
cheers

I think I'm starting to get most of the notes in roughly the right order...... sometimes!

I use iPad and iPhone and both stay logged in, so it is possible.

I've had little trouble in the past, and have been posting here from my expeditions using iPad/Phone for about 20 months now.

Until the recent new iOS that is .. text boxes spill contents onto background .. more serious things with some other website. Emoticons still work OK here. I think someone has been 'fiddling' with Safari browser :|glug
