It's even easier to transport from gig to gig than a drum kit (and a drummer)!

I know there must be a logical explanation for this but it looked to me on reading Chris's post that he had finally cracked the mystery of time travel.. (:)

Dr Ryall is in the the habit of editing his posts to include quotes from or responses to later posts, supposedly to keep things tidy.

No time machines needed...

I found a washing machine works almost as well if you don't have a tractor, just not as consistent.
OP. good stuff!

Yes, but you would have trouble ploughing a field with a washing machine.  8)

Ah, yes.... completely irregular beat

I've wondered about trying to play something along with the Lister HA3 in our boat Sickle.

Any suggestions for a nice simple tune that I can use the engine as backing? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mE2u8IZENRc

Can't run my Fordson slow enough for this and only have Ab silencer  :(

The one lunger shown needs the combustion tube pre heated to incandescence to start, usually a primus paraffin burner but I guess sufficient air button work and a hose might blow a wood fire enough.

Anyone wanting to mimic this in the UK, look out for a Lanz Bulldog (Bb/Eb or C/F) or Field Marshall (D/G), or for a slightly livelier beat a 2 cylinder John Deere A, B or G (thats the model, not tuning)  ;D

NB The reed wranglers of this parish would feel at home with most of these single cylinder tractor engines as they mostly have crankcase compression using reed valves, 1/2" wide x 3-4" long in banks of 8 - 12, damped to avoid resonance but if you forget to fit the dampers, well I've seen nuts undo and bolts start to walk out of their holes........................
