Tyrolean Dance Music
« on: October 18, 2014, 12:07:12 AM »

I'm trying to source information on Tyrolean Dance Music and access sheet music for the tunes.  Has anybody got any ideas where I might find this?  thanks in advance.

Lots of Austrian and German tunes as well as some others here. The website is all in German but with a bit of vocabulary knowledge, it isn't too hard to find your way around.

Noten/NotenPDF = normal staff notation
Griffschrift (literally 'grip writing') = a tablature system for club system melodeons. (It looks a bit like staff notation but it isn't!)

Yes, this is possibly the most complete collection and well maintained. Only one minor note:

Griffschrift (literally 'grip writing') = a tablature system for club system melodeons.
The Griffschrift on that site is for Steirische Harmonika and doesn’t work for Club Harmonika.

Ah - thanks for the clarification!

I spent a bit of time today trying to once again figure out what Club music was.  Are there any surviving examples of griffshcrift written for the instrument, showing what tunes were meant to be played?  Not that I'm terribly interested in learning from such, just that it would be interesting to see.  For learning on my own for the time being I'd probably just play along with the cuts on YT of Karin Seyringer.  Some of her tunes are really catchy and it would be fun to have a couple under my belt.

And don't Hohner still make a Club model?  So presumably the torch is still being carried, in some fashion, somewhere.  Sehr gut!   :||:

KLR, Karin Seyringer plays a Steirische Harmonika.
When I started learning melodeon I had a look at every Griffschrift system available at my local library. In my opinion club-Griffschrift was mainly used for basic learning, not so much for advanced playing styles.
Griffschrift for Steirische Harmonika is still widely used among traditional players. There are lots of demanding tunes in Steirische Griffschrift.

Oh, I know Karin plays the SH, just threw her name in as someone I've heard enough of to "get the bug."  I'm not really familiar with Alpine music in general, but I do own a Club Morino and play ADG so sort of have the right tools for the job.  I'd love to have ein Harmonika, the sound out of those things is really something.

I see, KLR. I love the sound of the basses.
By the way, did you listen to Herbert Pixner: http://youtu.be/AokFrs42CR8?list=PLleSCjq6vAKGenJc0WgiQ8c-6TCnLCqJd
