The Merits Of Tuition?
« on: October 30, 2014, 06:55:55 PM »

Having in the last couple of years worked with the likes of Andy Irvine, Phil Henry and Hanna Martin, Rua Mcmillan Trio And Sam Carter, I was astonished to find that in my latest project, Producing the Debut Album for Steve Gill http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjDwirUSdK4 a great D/G box player who is not a member of this forum, that he had been advertising for pupils for over two years without a single enquiery?, mind blowing! and yes that is Andy Clarke on Guitar and Nick Scott of Last Nights Fun on Pipes, SF.

Well, you could suggest that he advertises here! And possibly add a location or two...

Well, I know Steve Gill and live in his area (south Devon), and I had no idea he gave lessons.

Looking at Youtube clip he seems to be Irish orientated. Perhaps explains his lack of appeal in Devon?

Actualy Steve is a master of all styles, its just a shame that this was the only clip I could find, he is quite a modest chap, infact he is also a whiz on concertina and tin whistle!, out of the 12 tracks on his album there were only 3 irish sets, the rest were English, Scotish and welsh!, mainly on concertina. SF.

Steve does play mainly Irish style, without using the basses much.
