Thanks robotmay, your version is also very good. I play hurdy-gurdy for almost 10 years now and piano for 10 years more, but I am new to the melodeon (only view month). It is a realy "fun to play" instrument.

Hi there,

This is my first post at this forum. This is my attempt to this great tune.  :|||:

That's some lovely playing. It's hard to believe that you've been playing melodeon for such a short time!

Thank you. It seems the melodeon simply fits to me. When i play a new tune most of the time i am searching for the right buttons. The secret is to push the buttons in the right order  ::)

Here are some improvisations in the loft.   Some of them come off.
It's my new Serafini, like the other one recently discussed, except mine's Cedar of Lebanon, CF bando.
This is its first recording. I haven't yet adjusted to the much louder basses, but I like how silent  the mechanism is compared with my Loffet.
I'm not sure that this box suits me,  so if you might like to try it, let me know by PM.

And..
I suppose everyone knows about the newcomer to our session who wanted to play a tune she'd heard, called THE LONG CANOE.  ;)

Bleh, ended up having a busy week and not spending as much time as I'd have liked practicing this, but ran out of time and wanted to get something up at least:

Thank you, yes, well, I am very glad to have got custody of her, I really love the sound, there's many a good tune played on an old fiddle, though not necessarily by me.  I don't do it justice obviously, but I like trying.  French music though, I have no idea, as you can probably tell.  I wonder whether you have  got any other interesting boxes up your sleeve?

Well, here's my effort - I'm really pleased because I did it in only 6 takes!!! Something of a record for me, ha ha.

I think you've got a lovely sense of flow to this. Just wondering though if you intentionally missed out a beat in the second half? There's one bar in the middle of the B part that only has 2 beats rather than 3, which feels a little odd!

Well, you've got me worried now butimba! I have listened to this several times, with the music in front of me and I can't hear where you think I am missing a beat in the B part. Could you pinpoint it for me? Can anyone else hear this? Maybe I only hear what I want to hear!!!

"Could you pinpoint it for me? Can anyone else hear this?"

It is in the "B" section, the 4th measure at about .36, .46, etc.

The 2nd and 3rd notes need to be as long as the 1st.

Thanks folks! End of the month, and time to move onto the next tune! As ever, late submissions and indeed discussions on existing submissions are very welcome - just stick them on the end of this thread.

Here's my version of the tune with my younger brother on the guitar ... and a surprise ending :-)

As I'm sure you can hear, I've been inspired by a lot of you guys. Thank you for all your great videos!

OK! Finally managed to do a video of L'Inconnu. First ever TOTM for me, and actually my first ever YouTube. Did lots of takes; finally got one with not TOO many nervous errors so I went ahead and put it up.

Played on a G/C "Pokerwork" I picked up a bit less than 2 months ago to start learning on. I have other instrumental experience, so I'm not quite a raw beginner music-wise.

My GAWD that clacketty-clack really stands out! Too close to the mic/cam trying to hide my melodeon face?

Thanks everyone for trying to help. It's really annoying because several people can hear my mistake and I still can't. I shall have another listen and play it through slowly this evening when I get home from work!
