As promised/threatened, here's a version of Mrs Hamilton Of Pencaitland, as played/suggested by David. Great, great tune, and I think there's a bit more detail for me to pick up than I've got so far in this version. Here we go, on the preciosa in Bb/Eb again.

Cheers,

Clive

A tune that meets the theme and just happens to be appropriate for bonfire night as well (an English celebration of Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot, involving bonfires, fireworks etc on Nov 5th).

Albert Farmer's Bonfire Tune, which seems to be perfect for a one row.

Wow, that sounds almost like an organ. Nice chordal work.

That's really nice Clive! I do love this tune and it is so nice to play something slow, with so much feeling. In many ways, harder to do than bashing out a tune as fast as one can, don't you think?

I like this played on a lower pitched instrument like your Preciosa. I recorded my version on both a D/G and a pre Pokerwork C/F and I much prefer the C/F version.

I like this (also the little Kuckucksuhr). But I wonder if I'd like it even more if not all the stops on the right-hand side would be set on.

Actually the cuckoo clock is not so little....it's just far away... It's a genuine Schwarzwald clock, very old, rebuilt by my father.
I ought to give the tune another go with fewer stops. Also the box could do with a tune up. :)

Originally recorded by The Bismarcks.

The Bonfire Tune played by Albert Farmer was recorded by Ken Stubbs in Lingfield, Surrey, 1964; and subsequently released on the 1974 Topic records vinyl collection Boscastle Breakdown (Topic 12T240).

P.S.

Great playing. Keep all the stops up - for me you could add another four.

Hi Mike,

Thanks. The detail I gave was straight from Nick Barber's tune book (i have no idea if it is correct, though I assumed it was). I will correct the YouTube detail and see if I can't get hold of one of these recordings.

When you do, you will notice how the Bismarks played around with the tune quite a lot.

I hadn't heard it at all before I played it, so it's how I got it to work (for me) off the page.
