I will be away a good part of this month, so I am posting a previously recorded tune. It is a 17th century Irish tune composed by  harper Thomas Connellan, called Molly St. George. I have followed the style of contemporary fiddler Randall Bays for this one, which varies a bit from the version collected by Bunting.

As promised/threatened, here's a version of Mrs Hamilton Of Pencaitland, as played/suggested by David. Great, great tune, and I think there's a bit more detail for me to pick up than I've got so far in this version. Here we go, on the preciosa in Bb/Eb again.

You've done it again, Clive. Pure magic and so inspiring.

I've only just caught up with recent posts.....
I agree with Mike - Clive, your little Preciosa sounds amazing, and very well played. Thank you for that, most enjoyable.

Ha! Well done Clive, I've been looking for the name of that tune for years, no one but me plays it around these parts. Well played.

Well now my thumb hurts from playing this far too much over the weekend, but I've finally figured out Charlie's March (or Bonnie Prince Charlie's March, I think) from the Knock John CD by Andy Cutting & Chris Wood. It's not quite where I want it yet, but I figured I should upload the best recording I've managed before I go injuring myself playing it for another few hours each day :D

It's such a fun tune to play! Definitely one of my favourites I've learnt.

This is a great rendition, really nice and bouncy. You've pulled off a really tricky tune, particularly because the rhythm of it is a bit all over the place! For someone who's only because playing about a year I am dead impressed.

Thanks! I've managed a slightly better recording for SoundCloud since, but I'll keep working on it anyway as it's really fun to belt out ;D
I should probably figure out some other tunes to do for this month, though I also need to learn the tunes for Melodeons @ Witney at some point ::)

Here's a couple of sets of tunes for this theme. Firstly, learnt in that most traditional of ways from a Waterson Carthy CD, George Tills:

And learnt in the same manner from Brass Monkey, Billy Harrison's Father's Polka and Bill Driver's Quickstep. Though on the same CD, Brass Monkey don't play these two together but I think it works well:

Thanks Pikey. Credit should also be given to Jim Eldon, who recorded Billy before he died.

Lovely tune, sensitively played. Thanks!

Please do. I hope you enjoy playing them as much as I do; and I'd be interested in hearing another interpretation if you feel like posting them.

Great steady sound. Interesting to hear the key change on a one-row too.You have inspired me to cadge a go on a one-row, if I can manage it, at M@W. Won't be buying one though, as still not parted with the dosh for the GCacc which is being prepared... and my other half can definitely count.

Thanks OB,
I'm glad you like the steadiness, something I've been trying to improve upon.
that and bass side work, which is still rubbish.
There was no key change, I think? suppose to be 2parts in D
well when you get chance, get a one row they are a lot fun
