Chris, when you are sending a PM on here you need to check a box to save a copy in your sent folder, default doesn't save your message to save space.
Ah! OK. Ta

Have you two heard of the "PM" service on this forum?

It's excellent  ;)

I believe so but if I'm missing something would you care to enlarge upon your comment? While you're at it you might like to consider kerbing your crushing intellect, it is truly patronising at times.

Meant as a joke, as to talk 1:1 .. about PM .. other than by PM? Never mind.

Clearly didn't work and as such an apology for upsetting you is automatic. I'll do that on board as you have chosen to do.

With Trevor's kind permission there is now a PDF copy to view, in addition to the photos on his Myspace page. Both can be accessed from the Folkopedia Tune Manuscripts page http://folkopedia.efdss.org/wiki/Tune_Manuscripts_List,
Hugh (Tallships) is going to attempt ABC'ing the dance tune bits. Wish him luck!

This is quite distressing and it isn't the first time it's happened. You were joking and I didn't see it, I still can't to be honest, perhaps our senses of humour differ dramatically but the fact remains that you didn't offer any offence and I misjudged you. Your kind apology is noted but not accepted because in this case it wasn't necessary. I'll do my best to consider your posts thoughtfully in future and drop you a PM if I'm bewildered by any comments you may make.

Pete.

Phew! Glad that's over  :Ph

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Proin eget tempor nulla, donec sem sapien? ...

or whatever seeming daft stuff the other melnet adict might have tapped in!
.. Pretium est ipsum   >> <<

The clue is supposed to be in the little winky. About 70% of human communication is said to be non verbal, and without that internet forums are notorious for folk taking things the wrong way. If other punter then hits back .. a "flare" erupts  :-\  In the 1990s Usenet days I'd have to "unfollow" whole threads as they descended into verbal pugilism (traditionally ending in some reference to Adolf Hitler: Godwin's Law). This forum's guardian angels moderators are I have to say brilliant at keeping things cool and civilised.

I try to use the little faces where I can, always if I'm attempting any sort of joke, and recommend that to others.  I also think that  there are virtually no caustic or truly conceited souls in this forum. Some of us do have our hobby :neigh: horses - eg several regulars laudably and sincerely promote the 'English' style - I guess I do the opposite (though I have served my time as a Morris musician)! But we all mean well and want good melodeon play to prosper and proliferate

Back to topic then ...

Well done MorrisBox for finding this book. It should sit nicely alongside the two other tune collections from the Eden valley - Rev Harrison from Temple Sowerby and Matthew Betham from Towcett near Morland. Both of those collections are on the Village Music Project site, and I gather that MorrisBox is happy for this new collection to be added to that site, so I shall be starting to transcribe them shortly.
Cheers

The book has finally been transcribed into abc and Chris Partington has published it on the Folkopedia web site -  http://folkopedia.efdss.org/wiki/Tune_Manuscripts_List
We've gathered together some contextual information about the man here - http://www.cpartington.plus.com/Links/Cowper/Cowper%20Info.html and I hope that Trevor (Morrisbox) may be able to provide more information.

Is the original available anywhere?  The Myspace link doesn't work any more.
