John Kirkpatrick gigs cancelled
« on: November 18, 2014, 12:40:22 PM »

I just picked this up from the Folk Clubs UK page on Facebook, posted by a chap called Pete Skinner.

"ANNOUNCEMENT - John Kirkpatrick

John's wife, Sally, who comes around with him on gigs and acts as his support team, co-driver, and merchandise sales person, was rushed into hospital on November 14th, and had to have major abdominal surgery.

For the next few weeks, John has cancelled all his work in order to be at her side during what will be a lengthy period of recovery for Sally, and a major re-adjustment for them both."

That is a real shame. Totally understandable that John's priority is Sally's well being, but he was due to be doing a gig here in Sidmouth this Friday evening before doing Eddy Upton's Carols Weekend Workshop. Most disappointing.

A friend has had an email from JK to say that Sally has not made it - this is the most dreadful news and words are inadequate. (I have no reason to doubt the email.)

John's website has the news on the front page. It is so desperately sad.

we've heard this sad news, our morris sides being mutual friends.
We are all utterly shocked to the core.
Our thoughts are with John at this sad time.
