Here we go folks, here's my version recorded on a Robert Boutet one row in D:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKmg6_qIC8I

It's my first go recording via a Zoom H2 recorder using it as a USB microphone and it works very well I think. There's no reverb or effects on this recording at all (unlike the Christmas theme recording which is reverby as hell).

Cheers,

Clive

This tune looks so easy when I  listen all of you playing it ...
But I'm presently learning it, and discovering  it is not easy at all ... so a little extra time  is required for me ;) !

That's so good that it makes me laugh pretty hard at myself charging through the tune with the metronome. I see now that I am clueless.

Thanks - but don't be put off! What you need for this tune is not a metronome, it's a stampy foot! Embrace the stampy foot! (but not literally)

Before I started learning this tune I thought oh, that'll be easy, and then discovered that it really tests one of my main weaknesses, which is playing quickly (and evenly). I was bad at this with the piano and it turns out that I'm still bad at it with the melodeon!

Anyway, about to go away for a week but wanted to share what I've been able to achieve so far. At a pretty slow and plodding tempo: https://soundcloud.com/harriet-power/polka-chinoise-rough-version

Well played indeed!
If that's the 'rough' version, we will be totally gob-smacked to hear the 'polished' version, I'm sure.  :|||:

Butimba, there's nothing plodding about that - lovely playing. (:)

Here is my first attempt at a "Tune of the Month"  :Ph

(I can't read ABC notation and the sheet music didn't seem to match most of the recordings so I kind of bodged it together from the bits of tune I could play from different people's versions - I think it still passes as Polka Chinoise!)

I got in a bit of a muddle in the middle and you can hear presents being unwrapped in the background but I enjoyed doing it!

Happy Christmas!

Oh dear, I simply ran out of time on this one and I'm still learning it, having started only a couple of days ago due to other tunes getting in the way and other miscellaneous stuff happening.

Since I made a 'boxolution' almost a year ago to have a crack at ToTM each month, this is as far as I've got with Polka Chinoise so far  :|bl

Well done folks; quite a tricky tune that one. On to the next tune; late entries as ever always welcome; just stick them on the end here.

Love the tune! Sorry I'm late, but some of you will understand what it's like to have the house full of grandchildren visiting for Christmas. Here it is:
