I have some free time right now and would like to learn this.  Anyone got the ABC/notes?  Preferably in a D/G friendly key...but will take anything.  Many thanks in advance.

Related question...this chap is playing it in G minor (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeyTO5j1svc).   So what is the key of that box?

The right hand Gm chord seems to be on draw in the inside row so that would be a CF box.

Thank Theo, it was making my head hurt trying to figure it out.  I will get my CF box out and have crack at playing along then.

So no chance that it is a F/Bb box?  The chord sequence in Gm doesn't sit to nicely on a CF.

Perhaps, just my best guess.

Thanks for the link Pete!

These charts are transcribed from the second time through (he goes straight to the second ending of the A music first time).

Also there are slight variations, especially the rubato at the beginning which I haven't attempted to write out, and again, a different ending to the first time through.

Another thing, I've called the slash chord D/B - Bm as it's easier to read (G/E - Em on the G/C version).

Thanks for posting dots in Em Jack.  I have a rough handwritten version here which is essentially the same as yours...but yours is much clearer to read.

I have been practicing this for a few days now and it's coming along nicely.  I don't have a G/C melodeon so have been playing it on my Bb/Eb and D/G.  In these keys it sounds nicer to play the A music down an octave.  To be honest, the A music is painful on a (2-voice) D/G without doing that! (just about bearable on Bb/Eb).

Maybe by the end of Christmas I will have it cracked.  If so, I will post a video here  :||:

Might I add my thanks, too? It's another of Stephane Delicq's wonderful tunes for me to work on. Great to have it in a clear form. Many thanks.   :D

Best wishes

it comes in Am on my internet comnection, and the left end fingering looks OK for a French "army issue" G/C ::) So not sure what the Gm is about. Very typical Delicq phrasing, and nicely played IMHO :|glug

On a D/G that'd be E minor

Chris - I think you're looking at the wrong video.  Yes, the one in the original post is in Am and clearly on a G/C.  The video in the second post is in Gm: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeyTO5j1svc.  The question is whether it is a C/F box or an F/Bb.  If it is an 8-bass box then the chord sequence is unlikely to work on a standard C/F, but would on an F/Bb.

Ah  ::)  all clearer now. Another nice rendition. tricky, he's clearly hidden those hamds on purpose?

It's natural minor, not dorian, and he's not using accidentals. His Dm "turnaround" chord is push. So it's the natural minor of inner row. The box with a pull Gm and push Dm is an F/Bb. It's the push  D that swings it for me, but t'aint easy without something similar on the shelf. Where's Lester? We need him!

Is anyone aware of a book of dots for his tunes?

No, I fear not. ... But I'd buy one like a flash! ;)

If only I could transcribe ...  :(

There is an interesting Facebook page for Stephane Delicq, full of photos, memories, videos etc. As you can imagine, many people have left posts on there, asking if there is a book of sheet music for his lovely music.
In July 2013, after one such post, Stephane's daughter, Marie, left a message saying that it was in the pipeline and she was hoping it would be finished by the end of the year. Eighteen months later there is still nothing, so lets hope it is still on the cards.
This is her reply to the post on Facebook:
Marie Delicq Bonjour,There is no book with my father's music on the market up to now. It was one of his projects he did not have time to realise. We are working on it at the moment, we should manage to get a first book ready by the end of the year I hope. If you need some precise sheet music, let me know by private message, I'll see if I have them.

Just a thought for those who don't know, you can go to the 'Accademia del Mantice' page and print off  sheet music for 20 or more of his compositions, free of charge.

http://www.organetto.info/archivio_pre_eng.htm

and you can listen to many of his compositions, beautifully played by his friend Massimo Craveri on his You Tube channel.

Jack:  Thanks much for the transcription.  I downloaded the Am version and wrote it out in Finale so I could listen to it.  I was wondering if you or anyone else knows what the chord notation in lower case letters mean (specifically cg/C). Finale does not recognize this and sounds discordant.  I know the /C means C bass, but what do cg in lower case letters denote?  Thanks Charlie

Yes sorry forgot to explain that (and Sibelius didn't like it either!)

Massimo plays two push chords at the same time to make a major nine; if you delete the lower case g the software should allow it.
