Just to add, the Castagnari Trilly was stolen at 2.30am New Years day and was in a maroon Musicroom gigbag. If anyone does see it please contact me as the owner is offline at present.

Shared on Facebook. The toerags who stole it need locking up for a very long time.

Thanks to all for your concerns and sympathies.  It was rather like a bag snatching as i took my coat off I was distracted and had left the front door open as the cat had rushed out (she only goes out for a few minutes at a time).

The police took far more interest than they usually do, presumably as i had told them the second-hand value!  They seem to have covered all the local second hand shiops and even researched the likely outlets for specialised instruments and phoned the main ones country wide.

I stuck up posters in the area offering a cash reward and a few days later the lady in the corner store told me that a guy said he'd found it.  Of course, I have only his first name and haven't managed to talk to him, but next time he was in the shop he said he didn't know what he'd found so threw it in a skip!  Now I know I'm being paranoid and overly suspicious but - I can't believe anyone could look at a Trilly and not realise it was of some value and not a bit of fly tipping!  On the way home I checked out all the skips in the area.  Of course they are all padlocked shut, something doesn't smell right, so I'm still vaguely hoping it's around somewhere.

Rob.

P.S.  Playing out for the wassails on a lesser box is somewhat depressing...

Well, the only skips/bins which could have been used for dumping are the charity ones for clothes and shoes and the WEEE bin.  I've tried to look into the half open hatches, but can't see the contents.  Have phoned the local council and the operators of the bins and all have been friendly and helpful and promised to keep an eye out for anything that doesn't belong in them.  Apparently they treat such items as lost property, so if that's where she went they should be able to track her down.  Playing in a session last night on a Saltarelle Bouebe I found the dynamics very different, particularly when cross row playing on the pull it was so hard to get any emphasis some phrases almost disappeared!  Even if she surfaces again, I'll have improved my technique by playing on a less subtle machine.

I've one as well Syale but after playing it for a while I tend to recall (IIRC) Theo's comments along the lines of them being rich like a Christmas dinner, fine for a treat but not each and every day  ::)  ('pologies if mis quoted or attributed)

Hi Rob,

Did you try phoning round the Cash Converter type shops in the area? Possibly Reading too.

Thanks for the thought, Martyn.  The police told me they had already done that - though I suppose it wouldn't hurt to do it again.  The difficult part is identifying such shop and I'd hope the police already have them and their contact details listed.
