Interesting vintage box on US Ebay.

Presumably diatonic with stradella bass. I haven't come across that treble button layout before:

Hi Airtime,

It does look spectacular, and probably beautifully crafted inside also.

It's been listed a few times before.

I suspect the right hand side is unisonoric and with a "piano-like" layout of notes to the buttons, with the C scale (natural notes) on the outer row and the "black key notes" (sharps and flats) on the inner row of buttons, in groups of three and two with spaces.

I think it's funny how they say how pretty the bellows are with all sorts of artwork on them, and then have no pictures of said bellows, lol

I hadn't noticed it listed previously. It's not far from me ... but I'm NOT going to look at it!  ::)

Yes, I see the logic behind that. So it's not diatonic at all? How common was this layout?

I think it was probably independently invented many times (as applied to button-key instruments including lap organs, concertinas, and accordions). Sometimes you find the piano-layout buttons combined together with a CBA button keyboard. Just a few quick comparisons below.  The last link might be closest to the ebay box:

Interesting.

The comment on the last link you posted says it all:

Quote
I play accordion, but strictly of the piano accordion kind. When it comes to button accordions they just baffle me. The layouts of the buttons are frequently bizarre.

However from the look of this button accordion I should be able to play it as the buttons are clearly laid out in a piano style.

It's always struck me that the PA is a very awkward instrument - ergonomically speaking - the logic behind it being entirely that it mimics a piano.
