I've noted the chords used on two of the versions posted, and they are wildly different, but that B is yet another possibility certainly. Then resolve to Emin? or keep the tension up with a C resolving plagally to F on the bar after?... I haven't even tried playing the tune yet, but I can see there's an almost infinite number of possible harmonic paths all the way through it.

Interesting that so far all the versions in G miss out the big fat B chord in bar 12. I fell a recording session coming on!

I also, haven't had a chance to start working out the tune yet. Listening to the others, which have been posted, I am tempted to try it on the D row (B min ?) in order to avoid the squeaky top end if played on the G row.
I look forward to your recording Theo and anyone else who can give me a few hints! I really enjoy the lilting, smoothness of Emmanuel Pariselle's version, which seems to be sadly lacking in most others I have listened to.

I really like how relaxed Emmanuel Pariselle's version sounds and think that's the real challenge with this tune - trying to get that laid-back feel.

I've had a brief go on a 2.5 row and it seems to work well in D (i.e. in the key Emmanuel plays it in). I've also realised it's a really good tune to practise right-hand harmony with - you can play the whole B part in 3rds (aside from the last few bars where it goes too low in D).

Arty, the reason I used my two and a half row was to be able to play an F#m chord in the version in D. Not sure if that helps and I'm sure that it could be harmonised differently if need be.

It would be helpful and I am sure it will be to someone but I only have standard 8 bass instruments....for the time being! Thanks anyway McGrooger  (:)

Very nice version. I like the relaxed feel you gave it. I am not there yet.
Thanks for posting

Here we go folks, had a run at this tonight while I had the Preciosa out;

http://youtu.be/UbjK07gwyH4

I'm playing it mostly on the outer row, so we're in Bb. This only works because I've got some useful low notes on this box though...

Cheers,

Clive

there is something about this that i like. (a note not sounding so easily maybe within the 'high' octave?.... but a great take.)
i'd love to hear you play this same tune on a 'german' manufactured pokerwork/erica.
thank you.

Really like this - particularly the way you hold back the tempo at just the right spots, it flows beautifully and feels really nice and relaxed. Thank you!

Very nice version Theo. We can certainly pick out your B chord! I'll post one before the end of the month.

That is really lovely Jeff - the tune really suits the G/C box. I have started to learn it on my D/G box but find it a bit squeaky, so have decided to leave it until my G/C box arrives sometime soon. Well played!

Thanks very much David. And good luck with your wait for the new box. Let's hope it arrives even sooner than expected!

For me, this was an obvious one for the old Hohner C/F club box, not only because it means I can play it in the originally composed key, but because the sound is just right for it.
