For me, this was an obvious one for the old Hohner C/F club box, not only because it means I can play it in the originally composed key, but because the sound is just right for it.

I agree, I have been playing it in F also.
Hopefully I will get a chance to get mine up shortly.
Nice version
Thanks for posting

Really lovely! (I particularly like your harmonies and bass runs in the B part. Also the chords you use at the end of the B part just work perfectly.) Thank you.  (:)

Thank you! The end of the B part has a slow three note descending sequence in the bass which I think I nicked from the Emmanuel Pariselle version, though it may not be quite the same notes in the same place. In fact almost everything interesting I did was nicked from someone, except perhaps the RH harmony part in the B music, which I'm quite proud of having subtly tweaked to avoid breaking classical harmony rules.

Could you share a link where to listen to this version? It was mentioned several times but I couldn't find it

My attempt - after 4 years practice! Good to finally know what it's called though!
there is something about this that i like. (a note not sounding so easily maybe within the 'high' octave?.... but a great take.)
i'd love to hear you play this same tune on a 'german' manufactured pokerwork/erica.
thank you.
Jack
Very nice version. I like the relaxed feel you gave it. I am not there yet.
Thanks for posting

Thanks for these comments! I'm really glad I posted the clip - this totm has kick-started renewed faith in the melodeon after ages playing nothing but anglo. Thanks again Harp2 and gettabettabox.  (:)

Here's my very late contribution for this (extremely beautiful!) tune of the month. Sorry for speeding it up, my inner selves are still having an argument whether I should treat it as a mazurk-ish slow waltz or a faster one and this recording reflects it well... ;-) I think it works both ways, but I should try to get consistent. Oh well..

Video will appear here at about 9PM: http://youtu.be/Y3XpdC1vaEc
(Have to rush to a session & can't wait for the upload to finish)

This is my first post to melodeon.net, but I've been enjoying reading all the exchanges amongst participants for a while. I have only been playing the melodeon for about 5 months but have been playing music for most of my life on other instruments. Here is my rendition of the March TOTM.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knOn6TOLUac

I played it in the key of F so I could use the old "Lester", which I recently reassembled and returned to semi-playable condition. I didn't have an ABC program to transpose the music, so I rewrote it note by note in the key I wanted.

Great late flurry there!  (:)

Time to do the next tune, but of course you can stick any late entries onto the end of this thread as usual.

Cheers,

Clive

Hey folks,

Here is my contribution for March. Sorry for the delay, but I had many setbacks, and needed to change octave and key many times, until I finally did it on G, on the higher notes.

https://youtu.be/iwu6TQoUCxc

This song was very nice, because besides it's undisputted beauty, it requires three octaves, and a bigger exploration of this small but complex instrument :)

Best Regards
Tiago

Late as ever.
I saw Emmanuel Pariselle and Didier Oliver last week at the folk club (after a busy workshop earlier) and met up with some of the fiddlers just after. The New Land was deemed to be a tune to learn for upcoming sessions so I'm starting to learn it.
Here's a work in progress, posted so the fiddlers can play along and tell me what I'm doing wrong and how to change it. I know I've left out lots of little twiddles that the fiddlers do better than me, and I haven't worked on anyway.
