One thing I would find useful: a laundromat within walking distance of the centre.  There used to be one near the Endeavour but it closed a couple of years ago.

Most rental accommodation has a dishwasher instead of a washing machine - not a heck of a lot of use.

Dunno - your blazer buttons should come up nicely ;)  I just take adequate shirts and hand wash smalls if necessary. google for "whitby yorkshire laundromat" will get you at least 2 hits though

As John posted there is  Whitby Launderette and Service Wash Unit 2E, Larpool Lane Ind Est, Whitby YO22 4LX  01947 820442 , it's a little way out from the centre over the New Bridge but it seems to be the only one left in town now.

You could always go commando for the latter part of the week, Chris.  :neigh:

I knew about that one.  No use if you don't have a car.

.....Most rental accommodation has a dishwasher instead of a washing machine - not a heck of a lot of use.....

Now I finally undestand why I had so much trouble doing my laundry last year, though I was impressed with the way something called "Finish" made my shirts sparkle.

I bet you also had problems with broken crockery in that strange dishwasher which had a rotating drum.  ;D

I will be at Whitby all week, but like last year I will not have a stall in the trade fair.  I will have a few tools with me if anyone needs an urgent repair.  I can be contacted by email of vie a forum pm.   If you have an instrument that needs more extensive repair or tuning you can leave it with me to take work on after I get back home.

I will be at the trade fair between 11am and noon each day at the Barleycorn Concertinas stall.

That's good to know, Theo. I hope I won't need your services, but it gives me peace of mind to know that they are available if required. If I don't see you at the trade fair, I am sure our paths will cross in the Euro-sessions.

I will definitely be a regular at the Euro sessions, dancing more than playing I expect, so looking forward to some delightful music!

Tufty and others will provide the delightful music; mine will be more pedestrian. However, I might première a nice Italian mazurka called Principessa that I am in the process of learning.

I try to make it so. Hopefully, you will be able to judge for yourself. Constructive criticism on its danceability would be welcome.

My other melodeon's a fiddle, but one of my Hohners has six strings! I also play a very red Hawkins Bazaar in C and a generic Klingenthaler spoon bass in F.!! My other pets (played) are gobirons - Hohner Marine Band in C, Hohner Tremolo in D and a Chinese Thingy Tremolo in G.

Wednesday is the week's flat keys session, John. To get to Golden Lion from the Con club, just go downhill, towards the swing bridge. The pub is on the right, up the ginnel and can be seen from quay.

So that's settled

anyone with two (pr three) flats: => Golden Lion, 3pm Wednesday

Could people please put this about in other forums. Importantly I don't envisage (or want!) a "melodeon only" session. Brass instruments, clarinets, guitars even are particularly welcome.

Everything I had pre-planned, is on Wednesday. Bb/Eb. Melnet Meet Elsinore, second harmonica workshop. Endeavour Silly Shirt Day.
I will have to change my stewarding rota, if possible.
