It sounds terrific. I would love to come and am already thinking of whether I can make it next year. A little too short notice for his year. Very exciting!

Really good/fun/friendly weekend, went myself (as a concertinaist some years ago), thoroughly recommended.

Just to clarify two question I’ve been getting from melodeon players on and off this forum:

It’s true that the SSI started off as a concertina only event, but more and more people who only play melodeon have recent years started to join the event. Also sometimes people that play both melodeon and concertina sometimes only bring their melodeon and choose to leave the concertina at home. So this years it now official that all squeeze box players are in fact welcome to join the SSI  :||:

And for those who like to travel light:
If you do not for some reason want to bring your own instrument, there are usually enough around to borrow. It’s also possible to contact me and I’ll see what I got in stock for you to borrow, (not much at the moment though and most have not been on the tuning table yet…)

If you got any questions feel free to ask here, PM me or send the organizer Jim Lucas a mail: ssi@nonce.dk  (:)

like to thank Hasse and Jim for a great welcome and offer of logistic help. Sadly all fizzled out for me when diary showed that's when #2 daughter got in from Oz. Not even "use of Dad's car" won her over.

More notice please for 2016 - looks a great expedition and I've also long wanted to visit Malmö

Yes, sorry about the very short notice this year. I really hope you will able to attend next years SSI!

Next year I will definitely try and get the announcement and news about the 2016 SSI out on melodeon.net much earlier.

And yes, Malmö is difinitely also well worth a visit  (:)

Just checked the website and the dates and info for 2016 are on there. Not sure myself yet but certainly having a think! Might be fun if a small group went over...

Er what web site?

All the links I tried from above get me a "not found" … and a desperate URL edit into http://www.nonce.dk (default lander page on most sites) produces an assertive ::) notice about "not investigating my website".

Google only got me inactive stuff too, so … help appreciated!  :Ph

It took me a lot of work (using Google search for site:www.nonce.dk) to find it, but Lester beat me to the post!

Just curious, but why not use frames?
Is it purely that they've gone out of fashion and are seriously uncool, or is there a technical reason to do with incompatibility with modern browsers and CSS.

In the example which Lester quotes, I find that the fixed menu in the left-hand column is quite useful as I can navigate to other sections of the website with less scrolling up and down.

Relevant note to web site authors: DON'T USE FRAMES!
Just curious, but why not use frames?

Historically, sites built using Frames were not search engine friendly, which meant that most of the site's content was not indexed and therefore couldn't be found through Google.

Today, sites built using Frames are not mobile friendly and will struggle catering for the wide range of screen sizes and devices 'browsing' the web, from tablets (portrait and landscape) to widescreen HD internet TVs!

From a techie perspective, most websites today are built using a content management system such as Wordpress, which makes it easy for the non-techie to update their site, without knowing anything about HTML coding. Frames, by comparison, takes you back to the bad old days of hand coding websites. Great fun perhaps for a techie hobbyist, but the web professionals moved on to better, more efficient & effective technologies many years ago.

There are other techie architecture and user experience reasons, but this thread has drifted enough :)

So the better question, Steve, is why would anyone still use Frames? (Rhetorical)

Sorry folks, had not thought to include the better website link. I also had trouble finding it but did in the end. Anyway, interesting as website building is, more to the point, any sign of anyone planning to go Or at least considering it? I have looked at flights and they look reasonable to Kastrup. The train to Lund is about half an hour and also not badly priced. Seriously considering it but it would be much more fun to go in a gang.
