... or English makes

There's never been an "accordion industry" in Britain, unlike (especially) Germany & Italy - indeed the only accordion factory has been the one exported there (after the Second World War) by the Swedish maker Hagstrom. Here's one of theirs that I have:

Hagstrom built the first production D/G boxes, for Peter Kennedy at the EFDSS, in 1949.

I appear to have bought one of these in red. What do they play like ?

For the ipernity site, the link did not work.
It's a little embarassing, but if you search under Miss Magnolia Thunderpussy, then accordion, there are over 800 pictures.  Takes a little finding.  Weird site.

Not doing that! Because I use Youtube at school it seems to know every single website I've been to (and of course, they're all fine, but have you noticed that the picture enticing you to look at a video often has nothing to do with the video?) and things pop up at the worst time.

With just the first page I see from this link:

"Tubby girl on points, with her sister playing the accordion" and "Big-eared young boy with his first accordion. Just like a little chipmunk . . ."

Yikes...  I work with children... trying to imagine saying that publicly   ;D
And... wonder what she would say about me!!!!!  :P

Fascinating stuff, but I see no Hagstrom melodeons

I think Rees was answering the subject header - whereas I am intrigued by the Hagstrom and want to know how you "appear to have bought one of these" I suspect that they sound ok although the finish looks like someone has shrinkwrapped it in latex.
Let us know when you get it.

l the post I quoted was from Triskel, who owns a similar box, and I was wondering about the sound they make.
I said, I appear to have bought one because although I won the bidding on German eBay, and have sent the money, I still haven't received it. So I don't count it as mine, until it arrives at my door.

Hope it turns up for you soon. I suspect that they were well made boxes with good quality reeds. I assuming that it is CF?

Key not known, but it'll be either C/F or G/C I reckon.

Mine's in typical Scandinavian G/C tuning, and in very original condition. It plays decently enough.

C/F might be more likely ftom Germany though...

The ipernity link has a incredible number of instruments, but the snarky comments on each one are not really helpful.
