I have uploaded the Finnish tunes I described above to my own site, for ease of reference mainly.  They're the same as the copy here and I don't envisage changing them any time soon.

Something I am looking for: "runic" tunes.  These are the extremely narrow-range song tunes that Sibelius often used as raw material: from the Finnish, Estonian and Livonian peoples of the Baltic seaboard.  Rather unlikely melodeon repertoire; none of them would need more than three buttons.  Ideally, transcriptions with matching sound files.

Thank you for posting this. I opened the pdf version and sight read through several tunes on a melodeon. Then I perused your website and will spend more time there soon. I enjoyed the flute and clarinet info. I have an old six key flute and am in the process of repairing an old low pitch Bb Albert system clarinet which I purchased cheaply as a basket case.

Extensive collection of runo tunes here: https://jyx.jyu.fi/dspace/handle/123456789/27313

"Runo" is the Finnish word for "poem". Traditional poetry was usually sung, often by the women, either unaccompanied or sometimes accompanied by the kantele, to these simple "runo tunes".  It was from such poems, collected from runo singers mainly in Karelia, that  Elias Lönnrot wove the Finnish epic "Kalevala".

Thanks for that - enormous collection.  Bit of a bugger to search through, though.

I had no idea that "runic" tunes had nothing to do with runes (the writing system).
