Poll: Tune of the Month for April 2020
« on: March 27, 2020, 02:39:05 PM »

Hi everyone, with apologies for the lateness, here's some suggestions for this month:

- Mourisque - last month's runner up, and one of those tunes that everyone knows but no-one knows the name of! -Lester's got a nice version of it, with ever so convenient ABC, here: https://lesters-tune-a-day.blogspot.com/2012/10/tune-61-la-mourisque.html

- Ganivelle - also last month's runner up, a lovely schottische written by Fred Paris; this one's been in the poll before, and I'm surprised it didn't win! So let's try again:  here's Anahata playing it through with the even more widely played Canal in October: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4Fr6N2nuz8

- Son ar Christr (Song of the Cider) - Nice tune, very playable, here's the best version I could find with the A's and B's right, and the timing roughly in the right ball park: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Dk8ufRbLYE . Singing optional!

- The Railway - here played wonderfully by Sandy Shallis (first tune); https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bktyD5p2npQ - a traditional tune played by John Kirkpatrick on the Banquet of Boxes CD.

Sorry, just can't bring myself to include Delilah this time! :-)

Cheers,

Clive

Song of the Cider is also known as Ev Chistr 'Ta, Laou!, and although I cannot find a melodeon version either, for the ear learners among us, there a several versions of this on You Tube, notably one which I have here, which is on the Chieftains Celtic Wedding CD.

If it makes you happy, Clive,
Why, why, why, not Delilah?

It's seems that there could be hope for the future. So, I'll keep on banging Delilah.

For Theme of the Month April 2020 can we have "Tunes to play before you die : What, Where, When and Why" (Or why not when you originally wanted to).
