Is there any way to create a favourites list of topics or individual posts - so that if I want to revisit a link posted by someone I don't have to remember how to find it?

I'm afraid not.

You can turn on notification for individual topics which will notify you when replies are added.

I create a folder in my email program. I turn on notifications, unless I have posted to a thread in which case they are turned on automatically.  Think that's the default.
When someone posts to the thread I get an email reminder with a link, which I stash in the Melnet folder.

It's not perfect, thread titles are not always the most helpful, but it works well enough. Usually, once I have a reminder, I turn off notifications and just read new stuff on the forum.

I would second the Blue Eyed Sailor's suggestion. It's what I do, and I'm currently producing a lovely long line of yellow melodeons!
